“I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become” – Carl Jung
Hello, I'm Adiela
Navigating life’s challenges often requires both compassion and experience. If you find yourself here you are probably enduring a difficult phase in your life. Starting psychotherapy can be a challenging journey, mixed with apprehension and hope. It can at times mean confronting difficult emotions and experiences which can initially feel overwhelming. I know, I have been there. However, embarking on this journey can also be deeply rewarding, offering an opportunity for healing and self discovery.

My Experience
With dual registration in Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology through HPCSA, I bring a compassionate and experienced perspective to my work. I completed my Master’s in Clinical Psychology at the University of Stellenbosch, followed by specialised work in the Department of Defense, where I served as a senior Clinical Psychologist at 2 Military Hospital. Here, I led psychological services and mentored interns within a psychiatric ward, gaining deep experience across cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Specialized Focus
In 2022, I earned registration as a Neuropsychologist, with a special focus on geriatric care and traumatic brain injuries. My background has given me the privilege to work with clients on diverse, complex issues, fostering resilience and change. Every individual’s journey is unique. I hold a fundamental principle of you are the expert of your own life. As a therapist I serve as a fascilitator, helping you explore and understand your unique experiences and perspectives in order to work towards meaningful change.
Services
Psychotherapy
My approach to therapy is holistic, grounded in psychodynamic principles that helps individuals uncover how past experiences and relationships shape their current thoughts and behaviours. By gaining insights into these patterns, clients can identify the roots of their challenges, shift long-standing behaviours, and achieve meaningful personal growth.
I create a supportive, collaborative environment where individuals and families are equipped with the tools to navigate life’s challenges. Together, we aim for greater understanding, resilience, and well-being.
Areas of Interest include but not limited to:
Relationship difficulties
Mood disorders
Anxiety disorders
Bereavement and loss
Life stage challenges
Self-esteem and identity
Maternal mental health

Neuropsychological Assessment
I also provide specialised neuropsychological assessments, which explore how brain function influences behavior and cognition. These assessments are crucial for clients dealing with neurological conditions, memory concerns, or those seeking a deeper understanding of their cognitive strengths and challenges.
Beyond addressing symptoms, the aim is to enable individuals to find potential not only pathology. Utilising clinical observations and tests, these assessments help us understand how brain changes impact cognition. They offer valuable insights for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation planning, focusing on both strengths and challenges to empower clients and their families.
My Focus Areas
A special emphasis on geriatric neuropsychology as well as neurological assessment for rehabilitation
Assessing and supporting patients with progressive neurological disorders and traumatic brain Injuries
Support and guide families and loved ones in understanding neuro cognitive disorders
Aim to enhance cognitive resilience and quality of life
